RECOVERING HOPE CAMPAIGN: PLEDGE RUN
IHI, WHAT'S THE HYPE?
On October 25th, we held our first BIG event. This event brought together students, local community members, healthcare professionals and administrators. Our hope was that we could introduce ourselves to our community and inform the people that matter most (you) about what quality improvement is. This event was a success and we were able to make it as open as possible using the technology at our fingertips. Through Instagram and Videoconferencing we were able to showcase our goals, and message to more than just those individuals present in the room. We would like to thank all those that were able to join us and plan on holding many more events. A big thank you to Physician Quality Improvement, Dr. Jamil Akhtar, and Dr. Paul Murray.
The BC Patient Safety and Quality Control Council once again partnered with the IHI Open School chapters to offer scholarships to students so that they may attend conferences related to quality improvement.
2nd Annual BCPSQC IHI OPEN SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
In October 2018, we had our second LEAN session, check out our blog post for more details.
On September 20th, 2017 we took part in our first Quality Cafe thanks to the BC Patient Safety and Quality Control Council. We were able to share how post-secondary students can develop and practice their quality improvement skills while in school, and highlight resources and opportunities for hands-on experiences.
The BC Patient Safety and Quality Control Council has been very pleased to provide support and work in partnership with IHI Open School chapters. The work of the chapters offers a unique avenue for students to learn about the process of improving health care, and connects students with quality improvement work taking place in the health care system. For the past few years, the Council has worked with the UBC Chapter in Vancouver to establish a self-directed scholarship fund for its members to attend educational opportunities related to improving health care quality. The scholarship application deadline has now passed.
